Limitless Horizons Ixil offers an array of activities to independent travelers and larger groups alike who want to learn more about the Ixil region and international community development. Our Sustainable Tourism program stimulates the local economy through employment of LHI families and other Chajul residents, who host activities in their homes, act as guides, cook meals and snacks, host hotel stays, and have an opportunity to sell their artisan products. While these experiences provide scholarship students and families with marketable new skills, they also promote the rich Ixil culture and bring awareness to the impoverished conditions of Chajul. This travel experience is typically unavailable to tourists, as Chajul is isolated and nearly impossible to navigate without local connections.
Income from tourism activities supports hospitality training for participating LHI students and families, fair compensation for their services, staff coordination, and LHI program operations. All prices include orientation, Spanish-English translation during activities, and outside transportation and accommodation arrangement, and 20% of your final payment is tax-deductible.
