A Partnership with Philanthropiece

Since 2008, Limitless Horizons Ixil has been proud to work in partnership with Philanthropiece.  LHI’s collaboration with Philanthropiece has allowed our once small volunteer-run organization, initially focused on educational sponsorships, to grow into a broad-based community development organization that is able to serve a larger number of Chajul’s residents and to meet a wider range of needs.

LHI and Philanthropiece’s partnership has had a deep impact on the community of Chajul. Together, we have expanded the educational opportunities available to the people of Chajul with programs including Chajul’s first public library.  In addition, we are piloting a Sustainable Agriculture initiative by planting organic family vegetable gardens. The gardens serve to provide a more nutritious diet to families, while allowing them to save money.

Philanthropiece, through their mission of broad-based community development and empowerment, shares LHI’s core beliefs of working collaboratively with the local people, developing programs that meet locally-identified needs and priorities, and operating with the utmost cultural sensitivity and consideration for sustainability.

To date, Philanthropiece has partnered with LHI to support the community of Chajul with the following programs:
